Warm as Toast.

The new Free Down Parka is built for inbounds or sidecountry freeskiing and snowboarding on colder days, but you will end up using it as a daily driver. With an oversized fit, a long cut, and generous amounts of 750+ fill-power premium down, this high-performance, lightweight parka is snazzy, toasty and cozy.

Adding to its versatility, it is wrapped in an updated version of our innovative seamless stretch fabric with woven baffles. This technology makes a warmer, more durable and more comfortable parka — you will not believe how stretchable it is.

You can wear it over a shell on colder days, but it will compress nicely and fit in your pack when you are going for a bootpack. It features a class-leading range of technical features, making it stand out from the competition.

The Free System™ has an oversized fit, designed to be worn baggy. If you prefer a more regular fit — consider sizing down.

Note: The parka will be extremely compressed on delivery. It will need 48 hours minimum to regain its shape and to loft completely after shipping.

The new Free Down Parka is built for inbounds or sidecountry freeskiing and snowboarding on colder days. A high-volume down parka with an oversized fit and outstanding insulation capabilities. Designed as a stand-alone top layer, with a wind-resistant shell fabric and technical details optimized for on-mountain activities, it can also be used as a packable insulation layer to be worn at the summit, when waiting for the pickup — or maybe at the après.

This is no trailer queen: The Free Down Parka features two ground-breaking innovations in down technology:
    1) The ‘I-tube Technology’ process, meaning that the down baffles are interlaced into the actual fabric at the mill, resulting in a double-wall construction by design.
    2) The use of stretchable threads in both directions of the fabric (two-way stretch) was previously nearly impossible for down garments.

These two innovations have several advantages: Cold spots and heat leaks are near eliminated thanks to the baffle design. Durability and wind resistance are vastly improved since the fabric is not punctured by needles at production. Stretchable fabric makes the garment more resilient, versatile and comfortable.

Do not confuse this technology with that of heat or glue bonded down jackets that have considerable cold spots and reduced stretch.

The 750+ fill power platinum down we use is of the highest quality and treated for water resistance, making it more durable while keeping you warm and dry even in the wet. At a total weight of 803.5g/28.3oz with 290g/10.2oz down fill in size medium, the Free Down Parka has a great warmth-to-weight ratio and will outperform most comparable alternatives available on the market. The parka can be compressed and lofts quickly when unpacked.

The oversized hood will fit over most helmets, and paired with the tall collar, it can easily be adjusted to keep the cold out. The elongated cut will be your best friend when that vintage quad (that the resort is too cheap to replace) breaks down again. Two large fleece-lined hand pockets provide plenty of room for your gear, and two large chest pockets are easily accessed when using alpine equipment. There are also two large inner mesh pockets. It is equipped with our signature stretchable cuff for ease of use and increased weather resistance.

The Free Down Parka is a part of The Free System™, our innovative ecosystem of premium technical layering products for progressive freeride performance and big lines.

  • Wash the garment in cold water, maximum 30°C, by itself or with other garments in similar colors. Make sure to close all pockets and the front zipper. Do not use fabric softener.

After wash, tumble dry the jacket on low temperature until the jacket is dry. Make sure to close all pockets and the front zipper. Place a couple of tennis balls in the dryer – this will make the down distributed evenly within the jacket.
