When we launched the iconic Ultralight Down Program in 2015, it stood in a class of its own, without any real competition on the market, offering unparalleled performance and superior materials. Now, we introduce its successor: The Ultralight Down Hood 2.0 is warmer and more durable with upgraded technical features, improved fit, and a reduced footprint while remaining as incredibly lightweight and ultra-packable as its predecessor. Designed to be worn under a shell or as a standalone, this full-featured down hood features class-leading warmth-to-weight ratio and is built to keep you warm during fast-and-light missions in extremely cold conditions.

The Ultralight Down Hood 2.0 is covered in a Japanese technology 100% pre-consumer recycled 10-denier nylon ripstop, weighting a featherlight 28 g/m2 and so thin that you might even see the actual down clusters through the fabric. The fabric is DWR-treated making it water-resistant and dirt repellent.

It is filled with premium 850 fill power European goose down, effectively making it 15% warmer than the previous model. The hydrophobic down is proprietary, plasma-treated, and water-repellent, maintaining its insulation capability even when wet. It is also PFC-free, RDS-certified, bluesign®-certified, allergen-free, 100% recyclable and completely source track verifiable.

Fit and technical details have also been updated using initiated inputs from our ambassadors and creative feedback from thousands of active users from all over the alpine world. It is now slightly longer with a straighter cut. The down-baffles have been redesigned for improved insulation. Pockets have been enlarged and adjusted. Hem and hood adjustment are completely re-engineered, and we also incorporated the unique internal elastic cuffs we developed for the Guide Expedition Down Parka. Of course, it packs down into itself, using one of the pockets as a minimal stow bag.

Depending on individual circumstances, as a general guideline, this jacket will keep you warm at -12°C / 14°F when worn as a standalone over a base and a mid-layer during low-pulse activity.

Waterproofness: PFC-free, DWR-treated goose down. Water-resistant DWR-treated rip-stop (main fabric).

Breathability: Low. This is not a garment for high-pulse activities. The extremely lightweight main fabric is very tightly woven to not let out any down through the fibers. This leads to low breathability but excellent insulation.

Down fill weight: S 121 g, M 129 g, L 136 g, XL 143 g, XXL 150g.

Wash & Care

Hand wash or cold water wash. Do not use fabric softener.

After wash, tumble dry the garment on low temperature until the garment is dry. Make sure to close all pockets and zippers. Place a couple of tennis balls in the dryer – this will help the down distributing evenly within the down clusters.
